1. Know a Different Kind of Services - Hiring a Wedding Photographer is not just about one person clicking your Wedding pictures but it includes a lot of other services that a Wedding Photographer includes in their package such as

  • Candid Wedding Photography

  • Cinematography (Cinematic Videos)

  • Event Photography

  • Event Videography

Ask your photographer if they offer all these services as per your preference and try to understand the difference between these from a Photographer's knowledge point of view. Many times it's been seen that the client's understanding and Photographer's understanding about these services differ and becomes a reason for miscommunication later on affecting the overall output as per the client's expectations.

So get a clear understanding of these services from the Wedding Photography company or individual you are planning to hire.

Only an experienced and good Photographer will be able to explain these things in detail.

2. Ask for a single point of Contact from the Team. - Wedding day is going to be a big busy day for you and your family so you should always ask for a single point of contact from the entire Photographer's team and also align one person from your family or close friend to coordinate with that person from the Photography team.

This will save you from miscommunication during your Wedding. The Photography and Videography team should be well aware of the event timings or any last moment changes during the Wedding day.

Sometimes, there are changes to the event timing and if the same update hasn't reached the team the event can be missed by the Photographers.

So, make sure all the updates are reached to the Photography manager before time.

Also, All your family members should be aware of the single point of contact the Photography manager has referred for contact.

3. Food and Stay Arrangement Cost - Go through the contract or ask the Photography manager if they are including the food or stay cost in their package or not. If you feel that you will be arranging the food or stay cost from your end then you should ask the Photography manager to exclude the cost of that from the package.

If you want the team to arrange the same on their own then the cost will be a part of the package as the team is going to cover your events for the entire day for more than 8 hours and if you have booked your Wedding venue far away from the city or in any different city or country than definitely, they would need a stay Arrangement as well.

Having all this cleared with the Wedding Photography team before booking them is very essential to save both the parties from an embarrassment during the event.

Get all the details of the number of people in the Photography team and check if you want to afford it from your end as per your budget or want to go as per the cost the Photographer has given you.

4. Delivery of Photographs will be In Print or Soft Copies - Be very specific in asking how the delivery of the pictures will be done.

These days many Photographers reduce the cost of print in their package. Everything is going digital and understanding that most of the clients prefer soft copies instead of heavy paintable albums which are so tedious to handle and share with your family and friends across the world.

So digital copies are best these days but be specific about this with your Photographer and if they have made the required cost reductions in the package.

Albums will cost you extra and if you wish to have a hassle-free sharing of your beautiful Wedding memory within a shorter period of time then go for soft copies instead of print.

5. Face to Face Meeting - Always try to fix a face-to-face meeting with the Wedding Photographers who have or are about to be finalized. It's very important to know whom you are going to deal with and how presentable the Photographer or the team would be in front of your guests.

I need not explain the importance of meeting people face to face whom you are going to give such a big responsibility of capturing the memories of the most precious day.

Also, request the Photography team or manager to carry all the contract and portfolio along so that the same can be discussed face to face and you can have more vision of how do they work and things can be very clear about your taste of Photographs you are looking for and what is their expertise.

Also, you can go through the contract and request the amendments (if any) on the spot and get it signed between both parties.

This will save both parties from any unfinished and unclarified expectations.

One important point is that during the face-to-face meeting you can introduce them to your close family members which are very important for the Photographer to know so that they can focus on all close family members and friends more and no important person is missed out in the pictures.

That's all in this article for now I am sure this has given my readers some insight and helped my future clients as well.

WHAT MAKES A CANDID WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER DIFFERENT?

Understanding the meaning of candid Wedding Photography is important to clearly define the value of a candid Wedding Photographer. it's not just about documenting the event which is a job of an event Photographer but when Photography becomes a form of art and creativity where the Photographer absorbs and uses his or her vision to capture the true emotion of the Wedding event taking place.

First of all the difference in work speaks for itself, however, there is 2 kind of Photography happens in a Wedding. First is Event Wedding Photography and Another is Candid Wedding Photography.

Now, be very specific in your selection when you hire Wedding Photographers and ask for an event Photographer if you just want the entire Wedding event, guests, ceremonies to be covered in the Wedding pictures which is the core job of an event Wedding Photographer.

To be specific an event Photographer actually takes pictures of whatever is happening during your Wedding events. His focus is not based on capturing artistic and emotional moments (not that he or she is not capable of) but an event Photographer has to fulfill the purpose of what he has been hired for otherwise, he will miss out on many things from the event.

His core job is to document your Wedding event as much as he can. Normally a single event Photographer can cover one event of approx 50 to 80 guests happening at one place. The number of photographers increases if the size of the guests is more than that or if more than one event is happening at two different places.

Well, now I hope you have got an idea about the job of an Event Photographer.

Now, let's have an insight into what actually makes a candid Wedding Photographer so different.

1. Art of Capturing Moments

A Professional Candid Wedding Photographer is paid for his art and vision where he or she becomes an expert in extracting and then capturing beautiful and unique moments the couple feels and shares throughout their Wedding event.

The job of a candid Photographer is to mainly focus on the wedding bride and groom and be with them throughout the wedding so that nothing special is missed out. After all the wedding is for these 2 people and the close family members and friends.

I'm in this industry for the last 7 years and work as a lead candid Wedding Photographer and with time I have realized that art is something you can learn and get the level of skills to perfection with time and experience. However, in my case, I strongly believe that I got this gift from my father that I do not have to think and plan the moments I need to capture. It all happens with me naturally. I observe a lot and keep myself so focused and involved at the moment and click what I feel which turns out the same in every picture.

So, coming back to the point a Candid Wedding Photographer's job is based on his skills of finding the moments happening between the Wedding couple, close family members, and friends.

If a candid Wedding Photographer will get involved or will be asked to capture the general event or guests posing then the Photographer will lose focus from what he or she has been hired for.

It's very important to leave the candid Wedding Photographer on his own and let him or her focus on the creative ideas and moments happening between the couple and family because if these natural moments are missed, they are missed forever.

So its always suggested to always hire an event Wedding Photographer too so that he can be with the guests who are excited to give poses and have some fun. Also would not ask the candid Photographer to click for them because if that happens the important people like the groom and bride moments will be missed.

2.Why Do They Charge High?

Photography is a form of art for people who understand it. People who have the vision to see the quality and importance of moments a professional candid Wedding Photographer captures in the Photographs.

First of all, a professional candid Photographer knows his gear very well and along with an artistic vision should be very technically equipped with his gear. I am not talking about expensive gear but yes the quality of pictures demands good professional Photography gear. At the same time, someone equipped with expensive gear only can't be called a professional candid Wedding Photographer.

So it's important that before you finalize your Wedding Photographer you should prioritize to see the moments captured along with the quality of work in the portfolio.

The angles, camera, lighting knowledge is a parallel thing which makes a Photographer professional.

Only taking good moments with poor composition and distracting photo angles isn't justified with the cost a Photographer is charging for.

This is where experience along with the sense of capturing moments at the same time comes in place.

I always have to take care of the background, angles I use, light directions, and proper camera settings along with a sense of not missing out on the moment. Keeping in mind all these technical aspects and taking care of the moments happening is what gives the right to a professional candid Wedding Photographer to ask a good price for his or her skills.

Candid Wedding Photography is not just about standing at one place and clicking the pictures of people coming in front and posing for straight flat pictures. Those are just pictures to document a Wedding not about finding and capturing moments of the couple out of 100 people in the Wedding.

3.Building Repo and Presentation Skills

Last but not the least, a good candid Photographer knows how to build good repo with the groom and bride along with the close family and friends.

Knowing how to build a stress-free and comfortable area between the couple and Photographer is a mandate.

If a Photographer has created a good repo with the couple and their family they are not at all hesitant to listen to the Photographer at any point of time whenever necessary and that's such a major thing that helps the Photographer to have more access to the chemistry a couple of shares throughout the Wedding events.

Would you be comfortable around someone with whom you haven't developed any friendly conversation and comfort with and the Photographer is just standing like a dummy and closely observing 2 people and the personal talks and laughter a family has?

I am sure the answer is obviously No!

Definitely, no one would be comfortable in that space, so I always make sure I create so much comfort for the family and couple that they start considering me as their own friend circle without any hesitation.

This gives me so much benefit to capture those real moments a couple and their family enjoy during the Wedding.

And of course, I make sure to be very presentable at the same time so that I am not looking like an odd one out.

The laughter, the fun, and the real gestures happening throughout the Wedding event are what real moments are and a candid photographer should know how to be present at that time and access these moments closely without distracting the natural flow of the moment.

Hope this article will help the readers some insight on understanding the importance of hiring a good and professional candid or event Wedding Photographer as per the choice one has for their lifetime wedding moments or event to look like.
